Privacy Policy

DropLocal is a file-sharing application that operates entirely on your local Wi-Fi network. It does not require an internet connection to function. All file transfers occur directly between your devices over your local network, ensuring that your data remains private and secure at all times.

DropLocal collects minimal data, strictly limited to what is necessary for the app to function:

• Language preference: Stored locally on your device to remember your chosen display language.
• Recent IP addresses: Stored locally on your device to facilitate reconnection with previously paired devices.
• Onboarding status: A local flag indicating whether you have completed the initial setup screens.

We do not collect personal information, analytics, usage statistics, contact lists, or any data beyond what is listed above. All stored data remains exclusively on your device.

DropLocal requests camera access solely for scanning QR codes to quickly pair devices on the same network. The camera feed is processed in real time and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. If your device does not have a camera (e.g., Smart TV, Steam Deck), you can enter the IP address manually instead.

DropLocal requires access to your device's storage exclusively for reading files you choose to send and for saving files you receive. The app does not scan, index, or access any files beyond those you explicitly select for transfer.

DropLocal uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob is a third-party service provided by Google that may collect and use certain data, including:

• Advertising identifier: A device-specific, user-resettable identifier used for personalized advertising.
• General device information: Device model, operating system version, and screen size for ad formatting.
• IP address: Used by Google to determine approximate location for regional ad targeting.

This data is collected and processed by Google according to Google's Privacy Policy. DropLocal itself does not access, store, or transmit any of this advertising data. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device's advertising settings.

DropLocal uses network-related permissions (Wi-Fi state, network state) solely to establish local file transfers between devices on the same network. Internet permission is required for loading advertisements via AdMob. No user data is transmitted over the internet by DropLocal itself.

DropLocal integrates the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob: For displaying advertisements (see Advertising section above).
• Google Fonts: Font files are bundled with the app and do not trigger network requests at runtime.

No other third-party analytics, tracking, or data-collection SDKs are used.

DropLocal does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. The app's sole purpose is local file transfer and does not include features designed to attract children, such as social networking, chat, or user accounts.
